The Experience
The Surrey, New York City
The Surrey is proud to be New York’s first Relais & Chateaux hotel in 20 years. Nestled in Manhattan’s Upper East Side at 76th Street and Madison,The Surrey hotel is both a familiar destination and an unexpected delight. Reinvented with a fresh approach to traditional luxury upon the completion of a 60 million dollar recreation, the Beaux-Arts design hotel is reflective of its Upper East Side neighborhood and evokes the ambiance of a residential townhouse that has evolved over time. Whether you prefer entertaining in the private roof garden, indulging in a relaxing massage at the Spa, or dining at your favorite table at Café Boulud, personality and guest preferences inform our service. Explore the art galleries, upscale boutiques and restaurants on famed Madison Avenue or the natural beauty of Central Park on our doorstep.
The Surrey’s lobby showcases coffered ceilings, limestone walls, marble archways and eclectic elements such as the front desk made of hand-tooled leather, and an antique Oriental carpet expressed in mosaic tiles. Interior Designer Lauren Rottet’s refined palette of textures and hues of black, white, ivory, and sepia provides a timeless stage for glamour. Steps away from Manhattan’s Museum Mile, The Surrey’s own private art collection features of over 31 pieces of contemporary works including conceptual artist Jenny Hozer, Chuck Close tapestry and commissioned furnishings by Jimmie Martin.
Our accommodations consist of 189 Salons and Suites, some with private terraces, fireplaces and small kitchens. Each guest salon and suite features extraordinary creature comforts such as Duxiana beds, custom Sferra bedding, Pratesi towels and robes, Laura Tonatto bath amenities, Waterworks bathroom fixtures and Carerra Italian marble. Inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud’s unique twist on time-honored French cuisine, Café Boulud celebrates New York’s café society with award-winning results. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant’s menu reflects Boulud’s four culinary muses: classic French cuisine, seasonal delicacies, the vegetable garden, and the flavor of world cuisines.
Named for the beloved French restaurant frequented by Manhattan’s art world elite of the 1970s and 80s, Bar Pleiades combines the elegantly attentive service of a fine hotel bar with the distinctive cocktail menu of a talented mixologist.
