– Depart Miami: Depart Miami on overnight flight.
Day 2 – Friday – Arrive La Paz: Morning arrival and transfer to Hotel Europa in the heart of the city. Balance of the morning at leisure to adjust to the altitude at 12,000 feet. Afternoon visit to the main points of interest in La Paz, including the Witch Doctor’s market and nearby Moon Valley.
Day 3 – Saturday – La Paz – Sucre: Transfer for morning flight over the snow-capped Andes to Sucre. Upon arrival, meeting and transfer to the Parador Santa Maria La Real in historic Sucre. Afternoon visit to the main points of interest in Sucre, acting legislative capital and a colonial treasure house with many excellent museums and churches. (B)
Day 4 – Sunday – Sucre: Today you will visit one of the most authentic Indian markets in all of South America. The drive is via an exciting mountain road to the town of Tarabuco where the Indians have a lively Sunday market. The Indian dress is very distinctive with hats that resemble the Spanish Conquistador helmets. Plenty of time to explore and shop before lunch and return drive to Sucre. (B/L)
Day 5 – Monday – Sucre – Potosi: Enjoy a scenic drive to Potosi in the high Altiplano and check-in at the Coloso Hotel for overnight. Afternoon city tour of Potosi, declared by UNESCO “The Historical and Cultural Legacy of Mankind”. The colonial city of Potosi was the source of silver during colonial times and legend has it that it produced enough silver to build a solid silver bridge from Potosi to Madrid. Visit the main points of interest in this historic city. (B)
Day 6 – Tuesday – Potosi – Uyuni – Colchani: Early morning visit the Casa de la Moneda (Royal Mint) with its wooden machinery used to make the silver coins for Spain during the colony and a visit to a mine which are local attractions. Depart Potosi and drive to Uyuni and on to Colchani. Dinner and overnight at a hotel made of salt, Luna Salada or Palacio de Sal depending on availability. (B/BL/D)
Day 7 – Wednesday – Colchani: Full day visit to the Salt Lake and Isla Pescado. The Uyuni Salt flat is the largest on Earth. This incredible creation of nature offers stunning sceneries. The surreal pentagons of crystalline salt, pure sky, cacti and flamingos will certainly make you feel like there is no other place in the world like this. Learn about the traditional methods of salt extraction, see the Ojos de Agua and the salt museum. Drive to “Isla Pescado” (Island of the Fish), that gets its name because when viewed from the distance it looks like a fish. Located at the center of the Uyuni salt pan it is an ideal place for photography fans and a once in a life time journey. (B/L/D)
Day 8 – Thursday – Colchani: Today you will continue exploring with a visit to the Tunupa Volcano to learn of her legends. Also near the village of Coquesa you can visit a sacred tomb in caves where people were buried as mummies. Box lunch en route. (B/L/D)
Day 9 – Friday – Colchani Uyuni – La Paz: Transfer to the airport at Uyuni to board your flight to La Paz, Meeting on arrival and transfer to the Hotel Europa. (B)
Day 10 – Saturday – La Paz – Sun Island, Lake Titicaca: Morning drive to Huatajata to board the hydrofoil cruise on Lake Titicaca visiting Copacabana’s shrine and local market, Moon Island’s Sun Virgin Temple and on to Sun Island. Visit the Pilcocaina Sun Temple and trek to the Posada del Inca for lunch and check-in. Afternoon free to explore the surroundings. Dinner and overnight at the Posada del Inca Sun Island. (B/L/D)
Day 11 – Sunday – Sun Island – Inca Utama: This morning visit the Inca Staircase and Sacred Fountain, lunch and visit a small handicraft market. Board the hydrofoil for cruise to the Hotel Inca Utama, visiting Urus-Iruitos floating islands and Quewaya Sustainable Project en route. Afternoon visit the hotel’s Andean Roots Eco Village with the Altiplano Museum. Evening visit to the mystical world of the Kallawayas, the high altiplano medicine men. After dinner, visit to the “Alajpacha” Native Observatory for a look at the southern skies. (B/L/D)
Day 12 – Monday – Inca Utama – Tiahuanaco- La Paz: Morning drive to the Tiahuanaco Ruins, where the remains of five civilizations, one on top of the other, have been discovered – the last one finished 100 years before the first Inca arrived. Tiahuanaco was a pilgrimage site for the Incas and is considered of major importance in the world of archaeology in addition to being a “power site” in the world of mysticism. After your visit, continue on to La Paz and the Hotel Europa. for overnight. (B/BL)
Day 13 – Tuesday – La Paz – Miami: Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Miami where you clear immigrations and customs and make connections to your home city. (B)
