Day 1 ~ Arrive Lisbon:
Arrive in Lisbon and check into your choice of hotel, private transfers are available upon request. (Accommodations, Lisbon)
Day 2 ~ Lisbon:
Lunch at Restaurant Doca Peixe – Featuring fresh fish baked in rock salt, traditional Sea Bream in the oven or Lobster on Rice and other regional delicacies. (Please arrive on your own to Restaurant Doca Peixe for your 1:30 p.m. lunch reservations. Voucher good for 1 meal per person with wine. Gratuities not included.)
Café Luso Evening Fado Show – Located in a restored 17th century stable, this is one of Lisbon’s oldest fado houses. (Present your voucher upon arrival; good for show plus 1 drink per person. Day 3 ~ Lisbon to Coimbra:
After breakfast, pick up your rental car at a convenient downtown location for your drive to the Pousada de Condeixa a Nova, Santa Cristina, a former palace built in the 16th century. Over the years the Santa Cristina has housed European nobility, has been a hotel inn, and served as both an orphanage and an asylum for the homeless elderly. Today, the property is completely transformed into a beautiful charming hotel. (Breakfast, Lisbon; Accommodations, Coimbra)
Day 4 ~ Coimbra to Douro Valley:
After breakfast you have a relaxing drive to the Solar da Rede, an 18th century manor house with a breathtaking view of the Douro River, on the road from Mesão Frio to Régua. (Breakfast, Coimbra; Accommodations, Douro Valley)
Day 5 ~ Douro Valley to Porto:
After breakfast, drive to Porto in time for your river cruise and wine cellar visit. And here,™s a secret only the most savvy know: Porto is as pretty as Prague, as sunny as Dubrovnik and with far fewer tourists, it,™s a destination where you may choose to stay.
Porto Cruise by Boat and Visit to Croft Cellars – Your opportunity to discover true port wine as produced in the world’s oldest demarcated wine region – the Douro Valley – under supervision of the Port Wine Institute, after a cruise on the river through the heart of town.
